What Makes a Great Journey? Part 3: The Unexpected Moments
Sometimes the most unforgettable memories aren't the ones you planned for, they're the ones you were lucky enough to stumble upon.
The journey is planned. Your flights are booked. The itinerary is set. Everything is falling into place...
Until a little hiccup changes the day.
Maybe a road is closed. Maybe you take a different route. Maybe you simply decide to wander a little longer than planned.
Then something unexpected happens.
You discover a charming little street you never would have found otherwise. A family-owned café or bakery serves a dessert you'll still be talking about years later. A small restaurant becomes your favorite meal of the trip. Or you stop to listen to a young musician performing on a street corner and realize you're witnessing someone with incredible talent before the rest of the world discovers them.
Those moments rarely show up in a guidebook.
They aren't usually on the "Top 10 Things to Do" list.
Yet somehow, they're often the stories we tell long after we've returned home.
As a travel advisor, I absolutely help travelers build an itinerary that fits the way they want to experience a destination. But I also believe in leaving room to breathe. A little extra time between activities. An afternoon without every minute scheduled. Space for curiosity.
Because sometimes the best memories happen when life nudges you in a different direction.
I love it when everything goes exactly as planned.
But I also love hearing about the unexpected moments... because those are often the stories that become part of your journey forever.
What's one unexpected travel moment you'll never forget?
